Lady Antebellum & Sam Hunt – Allen County Fair

image1-3The Allen County fair hosted a sold out crowd for Sam Hunt and Lady Antebellum on Saturday night. The large crowd broke the fair’s attendance record, which was previously held by Toby Keith last year. Anxious fans lined the gates hours in advance to secure a close spot in the pit. It was clear to see who the night’s favorite was. The majority of the fans were sporting Sam Hunt merch rather than Lady A.

Exactly a half hour before Sam was to take the stage, his name appeared on the screen and R&B/hip-hop music blasted through the speakers rather than the usual country. Sam Hunt is well-known for not playing by the rules, and his bad boy persona clearly attracts females of all ages. The crowd erupted when Sam hit the stage and the energy level never diminished until the end of his set. He opened with “Raised On It” and was sure to sing many favorites from his debut album “Montevallo” as well as Billy Currington’s “We Are Tonight” and Keith Urban’s “Cop Car”, both of which Sam wrote. His set was accompanied with the screams of every girl hoping to get one second of his attention. Sam Hunt easily could have headlined this show with a guaranteed sell out. His rise to fame is no surprise with the amount of talent that he possesses.

image3Lady Antebellum kept the high energy going by taking the stage to “Long Stretch of Love” then transitioning into the oh so fun “Bartender”. The chemistry between this trio on stage is something you must see for yourself. Their set can be described as heartwarming fun with the perfect combination of attitude. They flawlessly make the transition from songs like “Need You Now”, “Just A Kiss”, and “Dancin’ Away With My Heart”, to the energetic “Freestyle” and “Downtown”. One moment during the show Hillary Scott steps up the girl power by covering Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine”, and the ladies in the crowd responded by belting back every lyric. Just when you think the show can’t get any more exciting, Sam Hunt makes a return to the stage. He accompanies Lady A with a cover of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way”. This was hands down the most fun moment of the show. The artists on stage were having a blast and the crowd’s response echoed just that.  There was never a dull moment during this show and the acts combined for a perfect night of country music. The Allen County Fair yet again, succeeded in bringing another spectacular concert.
